FAQ
Questions tradies ask
Do I need to download an app?
No. Hawkbolt runs in your phone's browser on iPhone and Android. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen from its own icon, like any other app. The app shows you how.
Is it really free?
Yes. While paid plans are being set up there's no limit on sent quotes. When paid plans launch, the Free plan becomes 3 sent quotes a month, with unlimited drafts, and we'll tell you before that starts.
Does the AI set my prices?
No. Prices always come from your own rates, margins and products. The AI only turns what you say about the job into rooms, measurements and surfaces, and anything it had to guess is marked so you can check it.
You review every quote before it goes to your client.
Can I use my own rates and products?
Yes. You set your rates per square metre, metre or item, your sundries and margin, minimum charges, travel, and the products, brands and sheens behind your Good, Better and Best options. You also set your deposit, warranty, payment terms and standard exclusions.
What does my client see?
A link you send by text or email from your own phone. It shows your business details, the three options with prices, what's included and not included, and your terms. They pick an option and accept online, and you can see when the quote has been viewed and accepted.
Where is my data kept?
Your account, quotes and client details are stored in Sydney. When you use the AI features, the job description is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, in the United States. The privacy policy has the details.
Which trades does it work for?
Hawkbolt is built for 15 trades. Painting is available now, plastering and tiling are next up, and the rest are on the way.
What's the founding price?
The first 100 founding tradies get Solo for $19 a month (or $190 a year), locked in for as long as they stay subscribed. If you cancel, the founding price ends.
Can I cancel?
Paid plans aren't open yet. When they are, they'll be monthly or yearly and you'll be able to cancel any time.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings, then Account, then Delete account. It removes your account, your business, your quotes and your client details.
